Happy Thursday Everyone! I’m officially back to work this week gearing up for the 19′-20′ school year. I truly enjoyed my summer break. I made nine skirts, four tops, one dress, and I repurposed one skirt. Majority of the skirts I made are for work as they are my favorite item to wear while working. I filmed a video of all the items I made over my break and I’ll be sharing that with you all next week.
Todays post is all about my two piece Ankara set. For the top I hacked the True Bias Ogden Cami. I hacked the pattern by cropping the top at the shorten/lengthen line. I added a one inch flat front elastic back band to the bottom of the top using the same method as my Toya Skirt. For the straps, I replaced each of them with two ties. Each tie measures 22 inches in length. Sizing: I cut the 12. My bust fluctuates between 35-36 inches. According to the size chart I should have cut the 8, after checking the finished garment measurements I noticed that there is one inch of ease. I prefer about 4 inches of ease for my crop tops which is why I sized up to the 12. In addition, I used a stiffer fabric than the fabric suggestions, which is another reason why I sized up.
For the skirt, I used my flat front elastic back Toya Skirt. I added a second elastic casing method to the tutorial using this skirt here.
