Sew the Look
Fabric: Mudcloth Print (100% cotton) from NasikaWax
Pattern/Tutorials: The duster is New Look 6514, I have a tutorial on my YouTube channel. For the skirt I created a mini half circle skirt using my pattern I created in the Teva Skirt Course (flat front elastic back waistband). I also have a half circle skirt tutorial with a zipper back waistband on my YouTube channel.
Sizing: For the duster I cut the size Small, I sized down from the recommended size Medium. My bust measurement is 37, I looked at the finished garment measurements to make my decision. The finished garment bust measurement for the size S is 37 inches, giving me 0 inches of ease. I prefer to wear my duster open/ slightly so I knew I wouldn’t need much ease. The skirt is self drafted using my measurements. The finished length of the skirt is 17 inches (I’m 5’7 for your reference).
Modifications:
- Added Pockets to duster (pocket pattern here)
- Added one inch to the center back of duster. I have broad shoulders and have found this pattern to be tight in the center back area.
Styling: I styled the duster with a mesh mock neck body suit and leggings from Forever 21 and ankle booties from JustFab.
This whole look is such FABULOUSNESS!!!!
