I love everything and thanks for taking your time to do this. Can you post a tutorial on how you made the wide leg pants and pink ankara jacket review. Thanks

Thanks for sharing your blogiversary…I really enjoyed the trip down memory lane! I love your personality and your teaching style…you make sewing fun! Please continue making your tutorials the same way…they are very detailed and easy to follow. I look forward to making all of these creations in the future but so far the coat dress has been my favorite.

Montoya, I absolutely love your tutorials!!! I’m a beginner and will attempt the paper bag skirt (you didn’t mention it in your 1 year blogiversary). Keep up the good work. You are doing an awesome job.

Thank you Yolanda, I appreciate the compliments! I completely forgot to add the clip for the paper bag skirt and another maxi dress, I just realized that after reading your comment. I watched the video two times after editing and I didn’t catch that, LOL at myself.

Quick question, is that a lightweight denim? Will I have to order it?

Hi there. Which look are you referring too? If it’s for the Butterick Jacket, I used chambray fabric that I ordered from Lafinch, you can find the link in this blog post: https://montoyamayo.com/diy-chambray-coat/. You can also find it at your local fabric stores as well.

I’m sorry, I was referring to the paper bag skirt.

I’m sorry, we were originally discussing the paperbag maxi in our previous messages lol. For the paperbag maxi, I used medium weight denim fabric that I found at my local fabric store. You can order it online, but with denim it’s so hard to tell the true color on the screen.

    Congratulations !

You are proof that persistence pays off ! Your passion and love for the art of sewing and teaching show through your meticulous instruction and flawlessly completed projects !

Thank you, for sharing your journey and your craft with us !

You said to choose one project, but I can’t since each one was distinct and helped demystify different sewing techniques and showed us how to come out of the fabric box when selecting fabrics for projects and go with the ones we love !

These are the reasons I choose them all !

Keep on honing your craft and staying passionate about what you love ! Because you will stay inspired and grow and help others along the way !

Blessing To You, Your Family, And All That You Do !

Congrats! My all time fav tutorial is the Imani necklace & of course the skirts. I would love an Ankara handbag tutorial in the future. I get so excited every time I get a subscription email. Can’t wait to see your growth in the future. Best of luck!

Thank you Avi! Thank you for being a faithful subscriber. I’ve been looking up different strategies for how to best line a handbag. I’ll be practicing some different techniques soon and will be sure to do a tutorial soon after. I’m starting a new series where I use scrap and remnant fabric for projects and an Ankara handbag is on my list. I can’t wait to make them.

    Hi Montoya,
I have been following you since I came across your blog and I have to say it is awesome. I simply love your work. I was given a sewing machine for my birthday but I don’t know how to sew but I plan to learn how to thread the machine and maybe someday soon teach myself how to sew. I would love to try some of your lovely designs. I have some Ankara fabric just waiting. Thanks for sharing all your beautiful work and congrats on your blog!

Thank you Cherease!!! Yes, when you’re ready use that lovely fabric. Similar to you, I received my first machine for my birthday. I let mine sit for 3 years before using it, but since I’ve gotten started I haven’t stopped. Can’t wait to see your first creation!
