Happy Thursday! My flat front-elastic back skirt tutorial is available now!!! I’m so excited for this tutorial. I named the tutorial after myself, The ‘Toya’ Skirt because you all know skirts are my favorite garment to sew and wear. The Toya Skirt is a timeless piece that will last through the trends of time and through our ever changing waistlines. This skirt gives you the sleek look in the front and flexibility to move and breathe in the back.
For this tutorial, I wanted to show how you can create a skirt for any age. To help me showcase my ‘girls’ maxi version of the skirt, I asked my student Destiney to join me for a photoshoot. A couple of days before the shoot, I braided her hair and added some beads that I wrapped in fabric. Look at me using my scraps. I created a mini version of my Imani Necklace to pair with her skirt.
In the video below, I discuss why this is my new favorite skirt and I give a behind the scenes look at the course curriculum. Enjoy!

This is lovely. I enjoy your tutorials. The kids version of the Toya skirt is amazing. I will try it out for my little Princesses. The Ankara wrapped beaded necklace complements the outfit well. Kudos. Greater you I pray.
