Hello Everyone! Feels like forever since my last post! I hope you all are doing well and staying safe during this time.
I have finally been able to get back into my groove of sewing these past three weeks. At the end of April I took a couple of days off for my birthday and I had an amazing two days of sewing and indulging in fried foods. During those two days, I was able to finish the garments featured in todays blog post.
Today’s blog post makes are garments that I started last year for my 30th birthday in hopes of wearing the outfit while I was in Cabo. I had some technical difficulties with the original top and it couldn’t be salvaged. I decided to move forward and create a new top with a tried and true pattern hack that I love. I hacked Simplicity’s 1112, which I have a tutorial for on my YouTube channel. The only difference is in the video the top is elastic all around the waistband and for the top here I made it with a flat front- elastic back waistband. I was trying to be fancy and match my skirt, which also has a flat front-elastic back waistband. To create my skirt, I used my Toya Skirt tutorial instructions.
Materials
Fabric: Ankara (100% cotton) I bought this fabric a while back from a shop on Etsy. The shop is located in the UK so I paid a crazy amount in shipping, however I could not find this fabric any where else.
