Happy Tuesday Everyone. I hope you all are doing well, the best that you can during this time. Right now I desire nothing more than to be on the beach at an all inclusive resort. This school year has been throwing some challenges my way and most days I’m too exhausted to be creative. Everyday I have to remind myself that these challenges are making me a stronger educator, even though it may not feel like it in the moment, I know I’m getting stronger.
This past June my family and I were going to take a trip to Jamaica but due to Rona our plans were canceled. Although my trip is delayed I’m still putting together a collection of garments that I will be wearing when the time is right. I have five looks that I finished for evening wear, but I still want to make 5 daytime looks and two swimsuits.
To create Look #1 in the collection, I used New Look 6491 to create the top. I wanted to create a two-piece opposed to a dress so I created a 2-inch waistband that ties in the back. For the skirt I used my pattern that I created from my Toya Skirt Tutorial. Check out the video footage of this look below.
Sew The Look
Fabric: Etsy ~ AfricanPrintFabric
Skirt: Toya Skirt Tutorial, I used three yards of fabric
Top: New Look 6491, View C. I used one yard of fabric. The finished measurements of my waistband: 20in. x 2in. Waist Ties: 13in. x 2in. (My waist is 28in)
Omg I swear I love everything you make! That outfit is gorgeous! I’ve seen a couple of Toya skirts, I’ve gotta try this combo though!!! Just beautiful ♥️

Thank you Jamara!!! Yes, give this combo a try.
Fabulous! I’m an older sewer and no longer have the pert figure for a halter top. Do you have any suggestions for how the top might be altered to include bra cups? Lol

Thank you Nadine. The pattern calls for a lining, I didn’t add one, but you can add a lining and cups.
