Happy Saturday! I hope your weekend is off to an amazing start. Today’s post is all about my winter wrap coat dress. I found this fabric for 70% off in the outdoor fabric isle at JOANN‘s. I had never been down this isle before, but I though “fabric is fabric” and began to explore. When I came across this blue printed fabric, I fell in love with the design but I was a little hesitant because the fabric frays heavily. I decided to take on the challenge and problem solve along the way. The fabric has a nice weight and is not too stiff, check out the movement of the coat in the video below. I knew my Tory Wrap Coat would be the perfect design to complement this fabric.
Tips
- Serge every edge of each pattern piece directly after cutting
- Use a 90/14 needle
- Don’t snip notches, use sewing pins to mark notches in the fabric
- Use a pressing cloth when pressing each seam
- Regular polyester thread works fine
Materials
Fabric: 4 yards of this outdoor fabric from JOANN‘s
Pattern: Tory Wrap Coat
OMG!!!!! Beautiful and I love that fabric. Do you mind sharing where you got it please?
