Fabric: Scuba Crepe Knit Fabric from Minerva in the color citrus
Pattern: Sicily Slip Dress by Sewing Patterns by Masin. I followed along to Brittany J Jones tutorial on YouTube.
Sizing: I cut the size B, I sized one size down from the recommended size. My bust measurement is 37 inches, I looked at the finished garment measurements to make my decision. The finished garment waist is 33 inches, my waist is 29 in. I like the fit of the size B. However, next time I make this dress I will try out the size C to see which size I prefer.
Modifications:
- Lengthened 18 inches from the hem line
- I had to cut the front piece in two pieces due to lengthening. I cut along the cowl fold line and added 3/8 in. seam allowance to each piece.
- Criss cross straps instead of straight back, this style helps to better showcase my broad shoulders. I added one inch to the straps to achieve this.
- Added a side slit. The pattern finishes call for French seams so I used a Cashmerette tutorial, “How to sew a side seam with French seams and slits”, for tips.
Styling: I styled the dress with a necklace from Forever 21 and the Jessica Simpson Caytie Ankle Strap Sandal from Nordstrom.
