DIY Flutter Top Maxi Dress

Happy Tuesday! Thank you to everyone who entered to win the Imani Necklace. I enjoyed reading all of your comments, they made me laugh and smile and filled my heart with joy. I truly appreciate you. The winner of the necklace is Amber. Congratulations!!!

Today’s DIY is flutter top maxi dress. I used New Look pattern 6373, with a modification, to create the look. Though the pattern is for a jumpsuit and romper, I decided to make a dress.

Fabric: Similar here

Pattern: New Look 6373 View B for the top

Modification

I made a skirt for the bottom of the dress instead of creating the pants or shorts. I used a similar method for my off the shoulder dress tutorial. The similar modification starts at 2:35 in the video.

Next up, I have a halter crop top tutorial. I’m almost done editing.

I’m looking to add some fabric to my stash for fall and winter. Where do you like to get fabric from? Comment below with some recommendations.

Very nice! One day, I will be brave enough to actually try using a commercial pattern. As for my fabric, unfortunately, in Austin there isn’t a lot of options besides Jo Ann’s Fabric store and one or two specialty stores. So I’m always on Esty and I also Google fabric stores whenever I go to Dallas, Houston or any other city to see what I can find.

Thank you! I felt the same way about commercial patterns, I had to learn the sewing language to navigate my way through. Etsy is my go to as well, I want to start exploring more online fabric stores.
